ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WAVY) - Elizabeth City Police responded to a call for an armed robbery around 4:30 p.m. at 1015 North Road Street Thursday.
Mike Boone with the Elizabeth City Police Department said victims told police they were robbed by a man with a gun while picking up a friend up on Franklin Street.
The friend called the victims to pick him up, and when they arrived, the friend got into the vehicle and a man brandishing a shotgun approached the driver and demanded money. After he was given an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled on foot.
The victims called police after returning to the location on North Road Street.
The suspect is described as being a heavily built black male, wearing a black/brown ski-type mask, a black t-shirt and tan work pants.
