MIAMI, Fla. (WAVY) - A missing North Carolina girl and a sex offender were reportedly located close to Miami.
Abigale Lefevers of Carteret County was last seen by her father on the evening of Sept. 23. When her father awoke the next morning shortly after 6 a.m., he noticed Abigale was missing.
Abigale was located unharmed and uninjured in Hallandale Beach, Fl. with 38-year-old Timothy Newman, a registered sex offender.
NBC affiliate WTVJ reports Newman was arrested near a Denny's restaurant shortly after his car was spotted by officers near Interstate 95.
Additionally, investigators say Newman and Abigale had been communicating via text in the past few weeks.
According to North Carolina Crime Control, Newman was driving a red 1998 Chrysler Sebring with a North Carolina license plate of AKT6534.
