VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Police have identified the person killed Friday night in a Virginia Beach shooting.
According to Tonya Borman with the Virginia Beach Police Department, it happened in the 5400 block of Coach Drive. Police received a call around 11:05 p.m. for a report of a man who had been shot.
Borman said officers arrived on the scene and found a man with a gunshot wound. The victim was identified as 24-year-old Jamel Alexander Knight, of Virginia Beach. Police said Knight died of his injuries.
Investigators determined Knight was attending an event at a residence on Coach Drive. While Knight was outside the residence, police said he was approached by two suspects. Borman said one of the suspects took out a gun and shot the victim.
Police said both suspects are men between the ages of 18 and 20, but they do not have any additional information.
