VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Virginia Beach Fire crews responded to a fire in the 700 block of Independence Blvd at Red Lobster early Wednesday morning.
According to Battalion Chief Ken Pravetz, dispatchers received a call for a fire at Red Lobster at 5:16 a.m.
Crews arrived on scene to find the exterior overhead awning on fire.
Crews had the fire under control at 5:30 a.m.
There was minor fire damage to the awning and overhead ceiling area.
The business will remain closed Wednesday. A company spokesperson told WAVY.com they hope to reopen Thursday.
No injuries were reported.
Independence Blvd was shut down in both directions for a short time while fire crews were on scene. The road reopened to all traffic around 6:15 a.m.
