PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Police say credit cards were stolen last Monday and charged more than $1,000 in purchases at Chesapeake Square Mall.
Jan Clark with Portsmouth Police said several credit cards were reported stolen on July 22 around 5:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Queen Street.
The suspect broke into the victim's 2006 Toyota by throwing an unknown object through the passenger side window. The suspect took the victim's purse, containing credit cards and other personal items.
Less than an hour after the theft, Clark said two suspects were caught on surveillance cameras using the credit cards at the JC Penney in Chesapeake Square Mall. More purchases with the credit cards were made at Finish Line and other stores in the same mall, according to detectives.
Detectives are collecting evidence regarding those transactions, which totaled over $1,100.00.
Property Crime Detectives are asking for assistance from the public in identifying these suspects, and their whereabouts. Anyone with any information can call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
