ACCOMACK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) - One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Accomack County, according to Virginia State Police.
Corinne Geller with the Virginia State Police said the crash happened at 10:54 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Highway 13 and Taylor Road.
A pickup truck was headed south on Highway 13 when a Dodge Caravan pulled into its path, troopers said. The pickup truck was unable to avoid the Caravan, and crashed into the driver’s side of the minivan.
Geller said the driver of the Caravan, 82-year-old Winifred Burkhead, died at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt, according to troopers.
The driver of the pickup truck was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. State Police said the pickup driver was wearing a seatbelt.
Geller said the crash is still under investigation.
