NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A second man died at the hospital following a double shooting in Norfolk Friday afternoon.
Officers were called to the 6600 block of Cornwallis Lane just before 2:30 p.m. for reports of a double shooting.
Two male gunshot victims found in a truck were transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where one was pronounced deceased Friday afternoon. Police said in a press release early Saturday morning that the second victim also died at the hospital.
The victims have been identified as Ervin A. Peebles, 46, of Dreweyville and Aalon Smith, 34, also of Dreweyville, Virginia.
Neighbors on the scene told WAVY.com they heard two or three gunshots. One woman, who did not want her identity revealed, said she had never seen the truck the two men were found in around the neighborhood before.
Police have not released a possible motive for the shooting.
Police are searching for two black males who fled the scene in a Champagne-colored 2011 Nissan Altima. has a Virginia license plate XEN 5559.
