NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - The Norfolk Botanical Garden announced Poet Maya Angelou's upcoming Chrysler Hall appearance is postponed due to illness.
Angelou, 85, was scheduled to speak on May 2 as part of the garden's 75th Anniversary Celebration.
Angelou was hospitalized this week and is now recovering at her North Carolina home. She canceled a February appearance in Texas in February for health reasons.
The Norfolk event has tentatively been rescheduled for Friday, June 21.
"On behalf of everyone at Norfolk Botanical Garden, we wish her good health and a speedy recovery," said NBG Executive Director Don Buma. "She is an amazing author, activist and speaker and we look forward to a visit in the future."
