HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - Police say a Newport News man died during an industrial accident in Hampton Wednesday morning.
According to Sgt. Jason Price with the Hampton Police Division, officers received a 911 call at 9:12 a.m. in reference to an industrial accident at Craft Machine Works located at 2102 48th Street.
Upon arrival, they located a 54-year-old man deceased. Price said the man suffered from a possible work-related injury.
"I can't discuss the cause and manner of death," Price said. "We've conducted a preliminary investigation. At this time, it appears it's not criminal in nature."
According to Craft Machine Works' website, the company designs and manufactures custom-built equipment for both industrial and defense customers throughout the country. The company serves the Army, Navy and NASA as well as other government agencies. It has 150 employees.
Despite calls from 10 On Your Side, company representatives had no comment on the incident.
Once it was determined there was no criminal activity, the investigation was turned over to the State Department of Labor.
