CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - Your wedding is supposed to be one of the most joyous occasions in your life, but one Chesapeake couple's memories will end on a sour note.
Their wedding gifts were stolen from their car before they could ever take off for the honeymoon they'd planned for months.
After their nuptials on Saturday, Shannon Wise and her husband decided to stay at a hotel so they could have some time alone. The next morning, she woke up early, went downstairs and immediately saw clues that something was wrong the closer she got to their car.
"Some of our flower pedals were on the ground. I thought that was odd, so I looked in the car and found our card box open and all of our wedding gifts gone," Wise said.
Wise's husband had accidentally left the car doors unlocked, and someone cashed in.
Those cards were full of money for their honeymoon.
The couple did file a police report and a representative at the hotel told them there may be surveillance video.
If you know anything about the stolen gifts, please contact Chesapeake Police at 1-800-LOCK-U-UP.
