NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Police say two people were transported to the hospital following a shooting in Norfolk Friday afternoon.
According to Karen Parker-Chesson with the Norfolk Police Department, the victims were in a car traveling in the 8100 block of Chesapeake Blvd. when they noticed a white Lexus following close behind them. Chessons says at some point the people in the two cars started shooting at each other.
One victim was shot and was taken to the hospital where he is listed in critical condition. The second victim suffered lacerations from broken glass and was treated then released from the hospital, after he was detained by police.
The shooting happened in front of Norfolk resident Brian Keller's house who told WAVY.com, "It was a little nerve-racking to say the absolute least, so I didn't know what to think. I asked the police officer, 'Is it ok to go back into my house?' well, we'll let you know in a short while,' - and the reason being - 'We don't know if there's bullet holes in the property.'"
Parker-Chesson says no other suspect information is available and no one has been charged or arrested in the incident.
Both directions of Chesapeake Boulevard were closed for some time.
