Salvation Army serves Thanksgiving meal

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - The Salvation Army will provide a Thanksgiving Day Community Meal at five locations across southside Hampton Roads.

The meals will be served from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following locations:

• Salvation Army Portsmouth Corps located at 2306 Airline Blvd.
• Salvation Army Men’s Hope Center located at 203 West 19th Street in Norfolk
• Salvation Army Norfolk Corps located at 5516 Raby Rd.

In addition, meals will be served from the mobile kitchen in Virginia Beach and Portsmouth. All are welcome at all locations.

"At a time of year when we give thanks, we are grateful to be able to serve those who may not be able to afford a traditional Thanksgiving meal," said Capt. Brett Meredith of the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army is also offering a mobile giving opportunity by allowing users to donate $5 by texting SALHR to 80888 to and responding to the confirmation message with the word YES.
