HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) - Hampton Roads residents will be able to recycle their natural Christmas trees as they take down their holiday decorations.
Trees should be free of ornaments, tinsel or stands. The following cities and counties will collect trees:
- Chesapeake, Dec. 27 through Jan. 5
- Trees will be picked up on regular trash collection days. If possible, please wait until Jan. 3 to put trees out.
- Gloucester, ongoing
- Residents can bring trees to any Gloucester County recycling center Fridays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Hampton, ongoing
- Trees will be picked up on regular trash collection days. They can also be dropped off at the Yard Waste Transfer Site located at 100 N. Park Ln. Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Isle of Wight, ongoing
- Trees can be recycled at one of the Isle of Wight recycling centers.
- James City County, Dec. 26 through Jan. 31
- Trees can be recycled at one of James City County’s three recycling centers
- Newport News, ongoing
- Trees can be picked up during regular trash collection days.
- Norfolk, ongoing
- Trees can be picked up during regular trash collection days. Trees can also be recycled at the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center.
- Poquoson, Dec. 26 through Jan. 11
- Trees can be recycled at the Municipal Pool Parking Lot or the VPPSA Compost Facility.
- Portsmouth, ongoing
- Trees can be picked up during regular trash collection days.
- Suffolk, Dec. 26 through Jan. 18
- Trees can be picked up during regular trash collection days.
- Williamsburg, Jan 7 through Jan. 14
- Trees can be picked up during regular trash collection days or taken to the VPPSA Compost Facility.
- York County, week of Jan. 7
- Trees can be picked up during regular trash collection days or taken to the VPPSA Compost Facility.
