HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) - Dominion Virginia Power crews worked through the night Thursday to restore power to more than 30,000 customers throughout Hampton Roads and northern North Carolina.

Bonita Harris with Dominion Virginia Power said about 1,600 were still without power as of 7 a.m. Thursday. Crews removed tress from power line, put wire back up and restored power to all schools and emergency services affected by outages.

Those without power are mainly in Virginia Beach, where a tree fell near Pleasure House Road and Birdsong Drive. Harris said the area was a big repair job.

Storm outage summary

Anyone affected by an outage is asked to report the outage to Dominion by calling 1-866-DOM-HELP (1-866-366-4357) or www.dom.com via computer, smart phone or tablets. Do not assume a neighbor has called.
