Dominion Virginia Power preps for Sandy

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) - Dominion Virginia Power and Dominion NC Power are preparing for Hurricane Sandy by requesting additional workers from other states to assist local crews.

Report outages or downed lines by calling 1-866-DOM-HELP.

Dominion urges its customers follow these steps before the brunt of the storm hits the east coast:

  • Establish an online account with Dominion
  • Make sure all Dominion account information is current
  • Assemble an emergency kit, including water, flashlights, radio, extra batteries, medicine, cash and nonperishable food items

If electricity is interrupted during the storm, call Dominion at 1-866-DOM-HELP or go to www.dom.com . Turn off all major appliances, and unplug others.

After the storm, treat all fallen wires as though they are energized. Never operate a generator inside your home or an enclosed space.
