NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Troopers have identified 27-year-old Jar Rasmichael Morse of Newport News as the victim in last week's fatal crash on Interstate 64.
According to Michelle Anaya with the Virginia State Police, a 19-year-old woman was charged with reckless driving after she lost control of her vehicle Jan. 18.
The accident occurred around 5 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-64 just after Lee Hall Avenue.
According to Anaya, Anesha Daniel of Henrico lost control of her vehicle and ran off the roadway, striking a guardrail. Daniel got out of her vehicle and attempted to flag traffic down for help, and a 1999 Kenworth fully loaded tractor trailer could not stop in time. The tractor trailer struck Daniel's vehicle, lost control and struck another vehicle, pinning it against a guardrail.
Both the tractor trailer and the third vehicle, a Buick, burst into flames. Morse, the driver of the Buick was killed.
Anaya said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
