NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Caroline Nichols made a name for herself at Salem High School in Virginia Beach, went on to become the CAA player of the year at Old Dominion and is now one of the sweet 16 headed to the Olympics.
An excellent defensive player, she will be on the field at ODU Wednesday and then on Thursday at Old Dominion for a tune-up match against the national team from Argentina.
The US beat Argentina to earn their trip to London, it was the Pan Am games that got this team going.
"I would say our team's mission, going over to the games, that hard work really paid off for us. I think our goal going to London is obviously to win the gold. We are going over there to prove that USA field hockey has worked hard enough to excel on the world stage and the gold medal is really in our sights for London," said Nichols.
Check out Caroline and her teammates tomorrow and Thursday at ODU and then Saturday for a nationally televised game at the National Training Center in Virginia Beach.
