VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Ricky Judalena has been surfing his entire life, but didn't start taking it seriously until after his quintuple bypass surgery a few years ago. Since then he's won three east coast surfing championships for his age group.
He said surfing saved his heart and his life, but even so he still sometimes gets a little nervous when he's out on the water.
"My heart was racing today, but I really enjoyed being out there," said Judalena who is competing in five different heats at the Steel Pier Classic.
