LONDON (WAVY) - Virginia Beach's Gabby Douglas has done it, capturing a gold medal in the Women's Gymnastics All-Around finals in London Thursday.

Finishing her routines with a 62.232, Douglas, nicknamed the "Flying Squirrel", squeaked by in the end to win it all.

Douglas was less than three-tenths ahead of Viktoria Komova of Russia. Aliya Mustafina took home the bronze medal.

U.S. teammate Aly Raisman was the only other American gymnast in the all-around finals Thursday.

Douglas brought the house down with her energetic floor routine, and U.S. teammates Jordyn Wieber, McKayla Maroney and Kyla Ross jumped to their feet, screaming, when she finished. Douglas flashed a dazzling smile and coach Liang Chow lifted her off the podium.

This is Douglas' second gold medal at the summer games, with Team USA earning gold in the team finals. That victory marked the first time since 1996 that the U.S. won gold in the team event.

The entire WAVY News crew wishes Gabby congratulations!
