NSU completes perfect home season

Spartans also unbeaten in MEAC play

NORFOLK, Va. -

Rob Johnson had 18 points and nine rebounds, and Norfolk State beat North Carolina A&M 55-48 to finish its first undefeated regular season in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play on Thursday night.

It was the fourth regular-season undefeated team in MEAC history.

Pendarvis Williams had 16 for the Spartans (21-10, 16-0), who have won 15 in a row.

Bruce Beckford had 16 points nine rebounds, and Jean Louisme scored 13 for the Aggies (15-16, 8-8), whose two-game winning streak ended.

The Aggies led most of the first half, but the Spartans caught them at 12-all on Williams' free throw with 9:24 left. Norfolk State led 24-21 at halftime.

The Spartans led only 30-29 5:00 into the second half, but they made it 41-32 on Johnson's layup at 10:59. With a nine-point run, Norfolk State pushed its advantage to 48-35 on Williams' jumper with 6:45 remaining and held on for the victory.
