ORLANDO, Fla. (WAVY) - While being drafted in the second round is no guarantee former Norfolk State center Kyle O'Quinn will get an NBA contract, he's doing everything right as he tries to earn a spot on the Orlando Magic roster.

Magic's biggest star Dwight Howard is on the trading block, meaning that O'Quinn has a chance to show off his skills in Orlando while playing with other NBA hopefuls in the NBA Summer League.

"Of course when it's your first time going out there of course, you see the gym is packed with people looking at you, all these cameras here, of course you're nervous," O'Quinn said. "I've been playing for a little while now and I have a sense of comfort on the court. With those veterans out there, it gives you that much more sense of comfort."

O'Quinn had 16 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks in his first game in his first game against the Brooklyn Nets.

"How do I feel about it? It was a big learning curve, these last couple of days have been big," O'Quinn said. "The physicality of the game and how quickly you have to learn so many plays in such a short amount of time in my life."

The Magic play the Detroit Pistons for Day 2.

O'Quinn is being coached by former NBA point guard Mark Price who works for the Magic.
