NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - The line outside Scope's box office is filled with last minute fans like Ralph Yost trying to get their final fix of hockey.
"I've been to over half the games this season. I've been a season ticket holder up to a couple of years ago since they started in 1991," said Ralph Yost who was waiting to pick out his playoff seats.
Yost was there when the last time the admirals won a cup, but that was when they were playing for the Kelly Cup in 1998.
"If you've been downtown on Granby Street you've seen the Go Admirals signs in all the windows. We've been supporting the team all year, but this is the fruits of their labor," said Bobby Wright who was buying more tickets for the Friday's game.
For Admirals fans, this really is a treat. Hockey in June a rarity.
"I bought 10 tickets two days ago, I found out more friends wanted to go and now I'm hoping to get more tickets nearby," said Wright.
And with the sunny skies comes some added responsibility for Scope Zamboni driver Eric Bisson.
"I'm just keep the building closed up, keep the doors closed an AC going full blast," said Bisson, who started his day around 9 a.m.
The temperature inside Scope for this morning's skate was 65 degrees, and Bisson is trying to keep it that way.
"I'm trying to keep it as cool in here as long as possible because when they open the doors and let people in then the building is going to heat up," said Bisson, who works at the rink part time.
On this sunny day, these fans say a seat at Scope really is the best way to beat the heat.
"I'm looking forward to them winning, the excitement, a sold out crowd," said Yost.
Game 1 is Friday night, followed by Game 2 Saturday night.
