VB animal shelter seeks new name

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Virginia Beach Bureau of Animal Control is seeking community input in their search for a new name for the city's Animal Control Shelter.

Officials say the name change is designed to better reflect the shelter's mission in conjunction with its adoption-friendly philosophy.

The city has four alternatives in mind, but is also soliciting other ideas from residents.

The four names under consideration are:

Virginia Beach Animal Resource Center
Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center
Virginia Beach Animal Shelter
Virginia Beach Animal Service Center

Citizens can vote on these names, or suggest another, by visiting the Virginia Beach Bureau of Animal Control web site at http://www.vbgov.com/animalcontrol.
