RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - One student has been expelled and three others are being punished for their roles in a racially charged uproar the night of President Barack Obama's re-election on a Virginia college campus.

A school spokesman tells AP the four were found guilty by a student court of violating Hampden-Sydney College's code of conduct. They were among approximately 40 students who gathered outside the Minority Student Union on the night of Nov. 6.

Some shouted racial slurs, tossed bottles, set off fireworks and threatened physical violence.

The student who was expelled was found guilty of disruptive and lewd behavior and harassment. The others were found guilty of various violations.

They were put on probation. One was fined $500 and all three were ordered to do up to 100 hours of community service.
