PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - The Railroad Museum of Virginia is on track to open its doors in November.
An opening ceremony will be held Oct. 18 at 4:30 p.m., but the museum will not open to the public until Nov. 2. It is located near the nTelos Wireless Pavilion in Portsmouth.
It will feature a 1910 locomotive, a caboose, a dining car, baggage cars and a depot-style platform. The National Railway Historical Society donated the cars. The locomotive came from a Roanoke salvage yard, where it sat untouched for more than 50 years.
