CULPEPER, Va. (AP) - Culpeper Police say three convenience store customers came to the aid of a clerk who was attacked by a man apparently angry over the price of bottle of water.
Police say 29-year-old Steven Alan Sager of Broadway is charged with felony abduction and misdemeanor counts of assault and battery, destruction of property, disorderly conduct and being drunk in public.
According to media reports, police say Sager argued with store personnel about the water and then ripped the face off of the store's ATM to demonstrate his strength. Police say a clerk went outside to write down his license plate number and was chased back inside by an enraged Sager, who knocked her down and attacked her until three customers intervened. The clerk was not seriously hurt.
