Teacher's body found near middle school

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - A man's body has been found near the North Carolina middle school where he had worked as its athletic director.

Chris Runge of Forsyth County Schools says the body of 35-year-old Paul Aaron Wilkins was found Thursday morning in a wooded area on private property near Flat Rock Middle School.

Sheriff's deputies say Wilkins had been in the area preparing a tree stand to use for hunting later in the year. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

Wilkins had been athletic director and physical education teacher at Flat Rock since 2009. He previously worked at Walkertown Middle School and Hanes Middle School.
