Man charged for heroin, meth possession

DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) - The Dare County Sheriff's Narcotics Unit issued warrants on May 24 after a months-long investigation.
Chief Deputy Steve Hoggard says 48-year-old Brian Keith Shelton of Manns Harbor was taken into custody after a search warrant yielded controlled substances including heroin and meth.
Shelton is charged with trafficking opium or heroin, three charges of possession with the intent to sell deliver heroin and simple possession of schedule II methadone.
Officials say that the search warrant was a result of an investigation dating back to November 2011.
Shelton is held in the Dare County Detention Center on a $285,000 bond.
