13 candidates request primary runoffs

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina candidates who want to request a runoff are facing a deadline.
Thirteen candidates have requested runoffs so far, with the deadline Thursday at noon. They include three congressional races, five statewide races, three state senate races and two state representative races. All but two of those primaries will feature Republicans.
Four candidates have asked for recounts of the May 8 election results.
Runoffs will be held on July 17. The general election is slated for Nov. 6.
