OUTER BANKS, N.C. (WAVY) - Be careful in the water.
The Health Department is advising people not to get in the ocean near the Corolla Lighthouse, on the Northern Outer Banks. Testing found an abnormally high concentration of bacteria in the water that could make swimmers sick.
There are signs in the 200-foot stretch of beach where the advisory is posted.
The Health Department will continue to test the ocean and lift the advisory once the bacteria levels have gone back to normal.
