"We Promise" foundation holds gala

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - WAVY's Kerri Furey hosted the 7th Annual Diamonds in the Sky Gala for the We Promise Foundation Wednesday.
The foundation raises funds to help sick children's dreams come true.
"You see these kids that are 6, 7, 8 years old and they're struggling just to see tomorrow and that's what it's all about, you really get that connection between who you are and what you want to do and it's just there," Chartway Federal Credit Union president Ron Burnsike said.
"It's an amazing feeling just to be here tonight, to be a part of putting smiles on these kid's faces for this evening and tomorrow," actress Marisa Ramirez said.
The event was held at the Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront Hotel. A golf tournament is scheduled for Thursday.
Last year's events raised more than $150,000 for the foundation.
