VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Police say a teen who crashed his car into a tree Wednesday on a Virginia Beach road passed away from his injuries Thursday.
According to Grazia Moyers with the Virginia Beach Police Department, 19-year-old Ian Andrew McDonald of Virginia Beach was driving a 2007 Volkswagen northbound on Blackwater Road near West Gibbs Road.
Moyers said McDonald's car traveled 67 feet before crashing into a tree. McDonald was not wearing a seatbelt but was not ejected from the vehicle.
He was transported to a hospital in critical condition and pronounced dead a day after the crash.
Moyers said the cause of the crash remains under investigation but alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
