VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Officials say an elementary school student could face expulsion for bringing a BB gun to school Wednesday.
According to Eileen Cox with Virginia Beach City Public Schools, the BB gun was found in the student's backpack at White Oaks Elementary School.
Cox says a classmate of the student alerted school officials to the BB gun.
Students were not in danger and it is not known which grade the student was enrolled in, according to Cox.
Additionally, Cox said bringing a real or toy weapon to school includes a range of disciplinary actions including expulsion.
