VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A Virginia Beach security worker was arrested for allegedly having inappropriate contact with a 15-year-old student.
Patience Perez, 22, of Norfolk, worked as a school security assistant at Renaissance Academy.
According to police spokesperson MPO Grazia Moyers, school administrators contacted police to investigate after learning about the accusations.
The investigation revealed the student and Perez were engaged in a consensual, sexual relationship off school grounds, beginning in February.Moyers said.
Perez was in a custodial role over the student, and was thus charged with felony custodial indecent liberties with a child.
Moyers confirmed that Perez has been fired from her job. She is currently out on bond.
