Students, driver transported after bus incident

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A school bus avoided an accident along Interstate 264 in Virginia Beach Friday afternoon, but several received minor injuries as a result. 

According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, a crash occurred on Interstate 264 westbound at Witchduck Road. As a result, the right lane of Interstate 264 is blocked as well as the onramp from Witchduck Road.

Jennifer McMarrel with Virginia Beach Public Schools told WAVY.com the crash occurred in front of a Larkspur Middle School bus. The driver of the bus was forced to slam on the brakes and students were jostled about. 

The bus was not involved in the crash, McMarrel said.

Bruce Nedelka, Division Chief for the City of Virginia Beach Department of Emergency Medical Services said six people were transported for evaluation. Only minor, non-life threatening injuries were reported.
