VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Virginia Beach Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened just before 8:30 Saturday morning.
Police were called to the 3300 block of Creekside Drive for reports of shots fired in the area, Tonya Borman with the Virginia Beach Police Department told WAVY.com.
Borman said officers arrived on scene and found a man with a handgun. They confronted the man and shots were reportedly fired by one of the responding officers. No one was struck.
Police have not said whether the armed man fired at the officers.
A police K9 bit the man and he was taken into custody. He was treated for a minor injury at the scene.
Police arrested Peter Gagnon, 42, and charged him with brandishing a firearm and two counts of discharging a firearm in a public place.
There is no word on any charges the man might face and the incident remains under investigation at this time.
