VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A 66-year-old man died Saturday morning after he was hit by a car near the intersection of Aragona Boulevard and Virginia Beach Boulevard.
Investigators say the man was crossing the street in the 4800 block of Virginia Beach Boulevard around 6:40 a.m. when he stepped off the median into a travel lane and was struck by a 2008 Chevrolet pickup truck traveling eastbound.
Police and EMS responded and transported the man to a local hospital where he died about 45 minutes later, according to a police spokeswoman.
The victim has been identified by police as Tanner Glenn Douglas of Virginia Beach.
Police say it was dark and raining at the time of the accident and Douglas was wearing dark clothing.
The driver has not been charged and speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash, according to police. The incident remains under investigation.
