VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Officials say one person was hospitalized for smoke inhalation following a kitchen fire in Virginia Beach Monday evening.

According to Brian Taylor with the Virginia Beach Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to the 700 block of Lake Edward Drive at approximately 7:40 p.m.

Taylor said the fire was located in the townhouse's kitchen. The fire was under control and extinguished within 20 minutes.
