VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - One person died following a motorcycle accident in Virginia Beach Sunday afternoon.
Medics were called to the intersection of Princess Anne and Mill Landing roads around 3:37 p.m. for reports of an accident involving a motorcycle.
Virginia Beach Police Department spokeswoman Tonya Borman said 28-year-old Matthew L. Whitney of the 600 block of Summers Drive, Norfolk, died at the scene. The preliminary investigation determined Whitney turned off Princess Anne Road and headed east on Mill Landing Road.
He lost control at the first turn, hit the pavement and went off the road, Borman said. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene at approximately 3:48 p.m.
According to Grazia Moyers with the Virginia Beach Police Department Whitney's speed and rider inexperience were factors in the crash.
