VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A Virginia Police police officer struck while directing traffic Friday night remains in critical condition, according to police spokeswoman Grazia Moyers.
While officers were investigating a four-vehicle crash in the 3200 block of Holland Road at 8 p.m. on August 10, a First Precinct Officer was in the northbound lanes diverting traffic. As the officer attempted to stop a second lane of traffic in the same direction, a 2000 model BMW struck the officer.
The officer was transported to Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital with serious injuries.
According to Moyers, the officer has been with the department for two years.
There are no charges against the driver at this time. Speed and alcohol were determined to not be factors in the crash.
The case remains under investigation.
