VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Police say a man walking through a parking lot at a Virginia Beach shopping center was run over by a pickup truck Wednesday afternoon.
According to Jimmy Barnes with the Virginia Beach Police Department, the man was struck just before 4 p.m. while walking in the Haygood Shopping Center in the 1000 block of Independence Boulevard.
The man driving the pickup truck stayed on scene following the accident. The victim was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and the extent of his injuries is unknown.
Barnes said the man was run over on private property, not public.
