VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Residents in three communities in Virginia Beach raised enough money to organize a fireworks show of their own on the Fourth of July.
"I'm a little surprised about it," Chicks Beach resident Brian Camden said.
Local eateries and residents from Chesapeake Beach, Baylake Pines and Ocean Park raised thousands of dollars to hire a professional fireworks company to do the show.
Originally from Virginia Beach, Patrick Toughey reminisced about private gatherings to shoot off fireworks.
"Everybody [brought] down their own [fireworks] and [left] all their trash and stuff behind," Toughey said.
Parking is limited to residents and their guests as the event is a private party for the community.
