VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Lightning kept fire crews in Virginia Beach busy Tuesday afternoon as a storm system rolled into the area.
According to Tim Riley with the Virginia Beach Fire Department, the peak of the roof of a two-story home in the 4600 block of Rothwell Drive was believed to have been struck by lightning just after 4 p.m.
No injuries were reported. Riley couldn’t confirm if anyone was home at the time of the fire.
Around the same time, fire crews were dispatched to a shed fire in the 4600 block of Rothwell Drive. Riley said crews thought that fire was also caused by lightning.
The shed was destroyed and no one was injured, Riley added.
