VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Police say four students are suffering minor injuries following a school bus crash, and the bus driver has been issued a summons.
Grazia Moyers with the Virginia Beach Police Department says the driver of the school bus struck a stalled vehicle on Salem Road while turning onto Salem Road from Lynnhaven Parkway just before 4 p.m.
The bus driver, 48-year-old Vernetta Gibson, was charged for following too close and was issued a summons.
Police say of 22 students on board from Salem Middle School, four were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
According to Jennifer McCarrel with Virginia Beach City Public Schools, the initial report stated the students are suffering mainly from bumps and bruises.
Additionally, a 4-year-old from the vehicle was transported as a precaution.
The accident was cleared just before 5:30 p.m.
