VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - The cause of an apartment fire in Virginia Beach on Monday afternoon was improperly discarded smoking material, said Chief Riley with the Virginia Beach Fire Department.
Battalion Chief Jack Crandell with Virginia Beach Fire Department says two apartments at the 500 block of Green Meadows Drive were heavily damaged in the 8-unit building. At least two other apartments have smoke damage and four others have siding that has melted off the building.
Crews arrived on scene at 5:19 p.m., and the fire was declared under control at 5:42 p.m.
No injuries were reported.
