VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - The Republican Party of Virginia hosted the GOP U.S. Primary Debate in Virginia Beach on May 11.

The event took place at the Cavalier Hotel at 6:30 p.m., and tickets sold out. Nicole Riley , Virginia State Director of the National Federation of Independent Business, moderated the event.

"This election is nothing short of critical for Virginia's business community. Decisions that will be made by the incoming Congress in 2013 will shape our economy for years to come," Riley said. "NFIB is pleased to partner with the Republican Party of Virginia in this debate to help our members make an informed choice when they go to the polls on June 12."

Participating candidates were former Gov. George Allen, former Virginia Tea Party Patriots head Jamie Radtke, Delegate Bob Marshall and Bishop Earl Jackson. The debate focused on issues affecting small businesses and the economy.
