Going bald for a good cause

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Gold bald isn’t so bad when it’s for a good cause.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation hosted a head-shaving event at the Westin Hotel in Virginia Beach Saturday. People from all over Hampton Roads came out to raise money for childhood cancer.

“When Sam was first diagnosed, she was 16,” Robin Latchford said. “She was a trooper, she was always smiling even through all the treatments. Went into remission at least twice and unfortunately lost her battle in 2009. We are doing it in memory of her because it’s a fantastic cause and maybe someday we’ll find a cure and this will never happen again.”

More than 150 people lost their locks. It was the 10th annual St. Baldrick’s event in Hampton Roads.
