VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - An 8-year-old Virginia Beach girl suffered life threatening injuries after she was hit by a car Wednesday evening.
Police spokesman Adam Bernstein said the accident happened at 5:47 p.m. in the 1800 block of Sandbridge Road, in front of Red Mill Elementary School.
The victim, her dad and another sibling were at the school for soccer practice. Bernstein said while the dad was getting the other sibling out of the car, the girl crossed the street to get to the soccer field.
Bernstein said she was then hit by a Chrysler 300.
The victim was airlifted by Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where doctors were able to stabilize her.
No charges have been filed.
