VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Virginia Beach firefighters have determined how a house along Blackwater Road caught fire Wednesday evening.

According to Chief Pravetz with Virginia Beach Fire, the fire at a two-story home in the 5600 block of Blackwater Road sparked around 5:45 p.m. The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

Firefighters were on scene for several hours working to get the fire under control and have determined the cause of the fire was because of a lightning strike.

Pravetz said no one was injured.
