Artists raise money for homeless

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Local artists gathered at a Virginia Beach library Sunday for their annual Thanksgiving sale.

Most of the pieces sold were ceramics. The artists were trying to raise money for December’s Bowl Roll, where visitors can watch them mold clay into pottery to raise money for the homeless.

“We have a show every year here at the library,” Elizabeth Hamberg told WAVY.com. “And then we’ll have our Empty Bowls dinner in March and everyone’s making pottery for that. It is supposed to be to feed the homeless and all the proceeds go to the homeless shelters in the area.”

The Bowl Roll will take place Dec. 9 while the Empty Bowls dinner is in March. Last year, artists raised more than $20,000.
